Printing your QR business card at Vistaprint or any printer

Vistaprint's own QR code feature encodes a web address. To print a card whose QR code saves your contact, design it here and upload the finished file. Here's how, step by step.

  • Nothing uploaded
  • No sign-up, no subscription
  • Scan → saved to contacts
  • .vcf · QR · PNG · PDF

Profile photoOptional. Shown on the card and saved inside the .vcf, so it appears in your contact's phone.

A handle (@jane) or a full link both work. They're added to the contact file and your card link.

Fewer fields = a less dense code that scans faster from a printed card. The .vcf file always has everything.

    Save contact

Scanning this QR adds you to the phone's contacts (iPhone and Android camera apps).

    Card image & print

Print PDF: 3.5 × 2 in with 1/8 in bleed, front and back. Sheet: 10 cards per page, fits standard perforated card stock.

    Your card link

A web page with your card and a “Save contact” button. Your details are inside the link itself (after the #) and are never stored on our server. Open it

    Email signature

Email programs only show images hosted online, so paste a link to an image (e.g. your LinkedIn photo or website logo).

Paste into Gmail (Settings → Signature), Outlook (Settings → Signatures) or Apple Mail. The “Save my contact” link opens your card link.

    Why upload your own file

Vistaprint lets you add a QR code in its editor by entering a URL — fine for a website, but scanning won't save you as a contact. A card made here already has a vCard QR code on it, and the Pro print PDF is set up the way print shops ask for it.

    The file printers want

    • Trim size 3.5 × 2 in (US standard).
    • Bleed 1/8 in (0.125 in) on every side, so the file is 3.75 × 2.25 in.
    • Safe zone: keep text and the QR code 1/8 in inside the trim.
    • Resolution: 300 dpi or vector. PDF is usually preferred.

The print PDF from this site is exactly 3.75 × 2.25 in with a TrimBox, front and back as two pages. Business card size and specs

    Step by step

    1. Make your card here and scan the QR code on screen to check it.
    2. Download Print PDF (Pro).
    3. At Vistaprint, choose standard business cards → Upload your design → upload the PDF (front and back).
    4. In the preview, check that nothing important sits near the cut line and the QR code has its white margin.
    5. Order a small quantity first if it's your first print run.

The same file works at Moo, Canva Print, Staples, local print shops and online printers worldwide. In Europe, ask whether they accept 3.5 × 2 in or need 85 × 55 mm.

    Common mistakes

    • Uploading a PNG without bleed — the edges come out white.
    • Letting the printer's editor resize the file so the QR code ends up smaller than 2 cm.
    • Choosing a glossy finish that glares under event lights; matte scans more reliably.

    Frequently asked questions

Can Vistaprint make a QR code that saves my contact?

Its built-in QR feature asks for a URL. Upload a card designed here, with a vCard QR code already on it.

    What bleed does Vistaprint need?

Its file-prep guide asks for 0.125 in of bleed on each side for standard cards (3.75 × 2.25 in total). Always follow the template for the product you pick.

Can I print the cards at home instead?

Yes: the 10-up sheet (Pro) puts 10 cards on Letter or A4 with crop marks.

Is a PDF or PNG better for printing?

PDF. The print PDF here has bleed and a TrimBox set; the 300 dpi PNG is a fallback.

Contact files follow vCard 3.0 (RFC 2426); QR codes follow ISO/IEC 18004. Checked 2026-11-07.
